GroomJobs

I started it as a job board for the pet-grooming trade. Today it’s free career and hiring guides, plus calculators that run in your browser, for groomers and salon owners.

The problem

Groomers lack industry-specific guidance on pay, portfolios and career paths, and salon owners lack practical hiring and retention resources.

Who it’s for

Professional and aspiring pet groomers, and grooming-salon owners and hiring managers.

What I did

I conceived it and built it with AI-assisted development, and I make the product and publishing decisions.

Decisions that shaped it

  1. Specific beats generic

Commission, tips, booth rent and dogs-per-day each get their own calculator.

  2. Retire honestly

When the marketplace was retired, its old pages began returning a clear “gone” response instead of misleading redirects.

  3. A time-boxed experiment

The current site runs on a fixed publishing cadence, with a planned point to decide whether to continue, maintain or archive it.

What’s built

  • Career and hiring guides for groomers and salon owners
  • Browser-only calculators for pricing, commission, tips, capacity and booth rent
  • Articles on pay, careers and running a salon

Constraints

  • No accounts required, and calculator inputs never leave the browser.
  • Analytics only with consent.
  • Every article passes an editorial review. Unsupported statistics were removed.
